The City of Miami Beach is prepared to handle any emergency – from severe storms and hurricanes, to potential health hazards. Our trained professionals in the Office of Emergency Management are responsible for the coordination of all emergency preparedness within the City of Miami Beach.

    The primary role of the Office is to develop and implement comprehensive disaster planning, mitigation and response activities within the city.

    The Office works closely with the Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management, State of Florida and other federal, state and local community agencies and partners.

    Miami Beach Emergency Operation Center 
    The City operates a fully-equipped, state-of-the art facility designed to be operational through any emergency, including hurricanes.
    Level 2 - Partial Activation 

    Coordinating debris management and financial close-out as part of long-term recovery and resiliency efforts.

    Complete debris removal and clean up can take months. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the City of Miami Beach Debris Hotline at 305.604.2444   

    Regular waste removal functions have resumed and code enforcement is enforcing illegal dumping violations. 

    Please remember to separate vegetation debris from other trash when you set it out on the swale.
    If you have additional storm-related debris that needs to be disposed of, it is recommended that you make arrangements with the Sanitation Department to schedule a pick-up date as residents of Miami Beach are entitled to (5) free bulk pick-ups per year.  To schedule bulky waste pick-ups by calling Progressive Waste solutions directly at 786.515.2726.   

    Apartments and Condos:

    Buildings with (8) units or more, on private garbage collection service, must contact their service provider for bulk and yard waste pick up. 

    Please note: Bulk/ Yard trash should be placed no sooner that (24) ours prior to 7 a.m. on your pick up day. 

    Residents may also take vegetative material to the Green Waste Facility located at 2800 Meridian Avenue, Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

     IRMA - Debris Management Map 
    To date, crews have collected and delivered over 156,050 Cubic Yards of debris.  

    Crews are working to finish collecting trimmed tree limbs to bring to the City's temporary debris reduction site for chipping and transport to landfill.

    Crews are delivering chipped debris by the truckload to a landfill on the mainland.

    To date 21,554 Cubic Yards of chips have been delivered.
