The Building Department provides supervision of construction activities, acceptance of building permit applications, issuance of all building and trade permits, verification of compliance with the Florida Building Code and enforcement of codes promulgated by regulatory agencies such as the Hotel and Restaurant Commission, Miami-Dade Environmental Resources Management, State Departments of Health and Professional Regulation, Board of Adjustment and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Plumbing, building, electrical, elevator and mechanical officials inspect new and existing structures for compliance.

The hours of operation for the Building Department are as follows:

CUT OFF TIME FOR INSPECTION REQUESTS

Building Department Permit Counter:
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
(No payments accepted after 3:00 p.m.)

Building Permit Issuance:
8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (Payments are accepted)
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (If balance is paid in full and all required approvals have been obtained)

Records Management (Microfilm and Research Requests):
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (DROP OFF ONLY)

Ticket Queue System (Q-MATIC):
7:00 a.m. to 8:00 A.M. Monday through Friday - (Contractors and Homeowners) Located on the first floor lobby.
8:00 a.m. to 10:00 A.M. Monday through Friday - (Contractors and Homeowners) Located at the Permit Counter Lobby
1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. - (Homeowners Only) Located at the Permit Counter Lobby

Plans Review:
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday - (Contractors and Homeowners)
1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. - (Homeowners Only)
