As an employee and resident of the City of Miami Beach, you have access to many professional development, personal wellness and informational training resources. The workshops are designed to help sharpen job skills and promote effective and progressive management practices that promote both personal and professional excellence.

Available Programs:

SIGE (Supervision in Government Essentials): Considered a requirement for new supervisors, SIGE workshops cover “need-to-know” information such as supervisory policies and procedures, mandated employee training and performance management.

Computer Training: Computer courses offered through MDCPS in computer labs on various computer applications, such as Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook XP, and Web Development. The Organizational Development Office, in partnership with MDCPS, can arrange for specialized computer training on an as-needed basis.

Professional Development Calendar: Every six months, we prepare a new professional development calendar that provides training dates for professional development courses that lead to increased awareness and enhanced job performance. Participants receive certificates for each course attended. Many of these courses are open to interested residents through our Educational Outreach Program.

Upcoming Programs:

BeachLinks: The BeachLinks program is designed as an information-sharing forum for key departmental contacts. By attending these informational meetings, BeachLink personnel become “subject-matter-experts” for their home departments, bring new or updated information.

CMB Leadership Institute: This program will be CMB’s innovative management development program available to supervisors and frontline employees. Participant may enroll in up to 10 professional development courses delivered in a self-study format via the Internet.

Influential Leadership: The Influential Leadership seminars are a one hour panel discussion led by recognized CMB leaders sharing their insights and experiences. Hear how our leaders get their good ideas heard, accepted, and enacted. Learn from our distinguished panel of influential leaders about how to use communication, inspiration and vision to get things done.
