The City of Miami Beach has been
designated as a Tree City USA
by The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the
USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State
Foresters.

Standardizes its Parking Rates and Programs –
Because of the growth over the
last decade of the parking system’s services and programs,
as well as the revenues derived from the parking services,
the City recently passed a comprehensive Parking
Ordinance to standardize the parking programs, regulations,
rates, fees, and fines associated with on-street and off-street
parking throughout the City

Beach Decreases Tax Rate While Increasing Services –
Miami Beach tax rate (7.399 mills)
will be less this year while the community gains more City
services. For the first time in recent history, the City
Commission reduced the tax rate paid to the City.
Collins Avenue
Major Reconstruction Project Begins –
On Monday, October 2, the City of Miami Beach begins a major
water main replacement project on the eastside of
Collins Avenue from Lincoln Road to 23 Street.

CITY PUTS KIDS

of nine and 15 years old will go to work with parents, adult
mentors, guardians, grandparents, or other relatives or friends

from the Miami Beach Parks Department joined City of Miami

the Miami Beach Police department will be accepting applications
for the 10th session of the Citizen's

City of Miami Beach found that many qualified and dedicated
persons interested in agency, board or committee membership
were prevented from appointment due to the two year residency
and business ownership/interest requirements set forth in

March 23, 2000, the Building Owners and Managers Association
(BOMA) awarded the City of Miami Beach's Property Management
Division two prestigious awards.

Enacts Tax Incentive for Film & TV Industries –
The Florida Legislature unanimously passed House
Bill 743 during this past legislative session. The
Bill enacts a tax incentive to increase motion picture and
television production in Florida.

Sweep of Collins Avenue from 5th to 45th

unanimously appointed Jorge M. Gonzalez

In the City’s continuing efforts to improve the conditions

Bonds to Continue Water and Sewer Improvements

Utility Rate Increase Effective October 2000 --
The City of Miami Beach will move forward on rebuilding its
water and sewer systems. On July 26, the City Commission approved
the issuance of not more than $55 million in Water and Sewer
Revenue Bonds.
City Introduces
Collector Parking Debit Cards -
First Municipality in the U.S. to Partner Smart Cards with
Parking and Transportation - On Tuesday, June 20, the City
introduces the City’s new collector
parking and transportation cards that are as chic
and unique as the people who use them are.
