City of Miami Beach

Celebrating 29 Years of Inspiring Community, Achieving Success

Miami Beach , FL –  For 29 years, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program in Miami Beach has provided broad-based community services to meet the physical, economic and social needs of the City and to its residents. From hot meals for the elderly to neighborhood street improvements, from childcare services to vocational tuition waivers, services and programs funded through Community Development Block Grant funds have been many.

Over $70 million in CDBG entitlements have been received during the past 29 years ($2.1M this year). And over those years, the Housing and Community Development Division has assisted many activities and programs for the overall enhancement of targeted areas and neighborhoods. Current City projects, funded by CDBG, are street improvement and beautification projects; youth programming at North Beach parks; and the City of Miami Beach Multifamily Rehabilitation Program .

During Community Development Week, April 21 – 26, 2003 , several events are planned to celebrate the achievements with the organizations that have helped the City provide outstanding services to Miami Beach residents, and have made the community a model across the country.
