Bring Out Your Trash; It’s Spring Cleaning Day on Miami Beach
Miami Beach, FL – The City of Miami Beach has designated Saturday, April 26, 2003 as Spring Cleaning Day. The City is sponsoring its first cleanup campaign as part of Miami Beach’s Community Development Week celebration to encourage and assist Miami Beach residents in removing accumulated trash and in sprucing up the appearance of the City’s neighborhoods and streets.
The City will provide special bulk dumpsters at two locations, one in the north at 81 Street and Hawthorne Avenue and one in the south at 833 Sixth Street, on Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the Spring Cleaning Day only. Residents must take their trash to those dumpster locations on that day. Trash must not be placed on the public right-of-ways.
Citizen participation is needed for this year’s Spring Cleaning Day. Interested Miami Beach civic groups, clubs, organizations, or concerned citizens are invited to assist and participate. Cleanup projects are encouraged and could yield dramatic successes in making Miami Beach a beautiful, clean and pleasant place in which to live, work and play.
“The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program has been instrumental in the revitalization of Miami Beach. For the past several years, the largest allotment of CDBG funds has been channeled to projects that provide citywide services and programs, resulting in economic revitalization that has impacted all residents of the areas,” said Miami Beach City Manager Jorge Gonzalez.
Single family homes can arrange for a bulky trash pick-up appointment by calling BFI at 305-638-3800, in advance of placing any bulky trash on the curb. Single family homes are entitled to four free pick-ups during the year. Please do not place trash on the public right-of-way before the day of your scheduled trash pick-up appointment.
