Miami Beach Reviews Charter for Possible Revisions
-- Public Encouraged to Participate in the Process --
Every 10 years, the City of Miami Beach forms a committee to review the City Charter. The public is encouraged to participate in this process.
City Charter Review Committee issues that are in discussion are: to change the election runoff date from one (1) week to two (2) weeks; candidates to establish residency for a certain period; district representation - elect Commissioners by districts; and change form of government from city manager to "strong Mayor" (full time and perhaps term of four years).
The schedule of the televised committee meetings are as follows:
- May 6, 2003 at 5:30 p.m.;
- May 13, 2003 at 5:30 p.m.; and
- May 29, 2003 at 5:30 p.m.
These meetings will be held in the Commission Chambers, third floor, City Hall. For more information, go to
