Scholarships
Available for Tourism and Travel Students
Miami
Beach, FL – April 15, 2003 is the scholarship application deadline for Miami Beach
residents and graduates of Miami Beach High School that are interested in pursuing
an education in the food and hospitality industry.
Eligibility
criteria includes a high school diploma or equivalent; City of Miami Beach resident
or graduate of Miami Beach Senior High School; United States resident, citizen
or visiting student with valid student visa for college admission; enrollment
in post-secondary education institution; interest expressed in the food and hospitality
industry (as demonstrated by coursework and extracurricular activities); minimum
2.5 (un-weighted) grade point average; scholarship application completed accurately;
two letters of recommendation; certified copy of school transcript or credit history
form; resume; interview by selection committee, if selected by selection committee.
If selected to receive scholarship, the student must complete a six-week paid
internship/mentorship with Volume Service America within one year of receipt of
scholarship for those receiving scholarship funds from Volume Services America.
Scholarship will be awarded based on merit and available funds. Scholarship
disbursement is at the discretion of the scholarship funders. Monies in the amount
of $55,000 are available this year from Volume Services America, Greater Miami
Convention & Visitors Bureau and SMG.
