Sister Cities Cultural Exchange Welcomes Japanese Artists

Miami Beach, FL – As part of the Miami Beach Sister Cities International cultural exchange with its Sister City Fujisawa, Japan, a reception was held on Sunday, July 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to welcome Japanese artists Akira Shimaya and Toru Minamimura at the ArtCenter/South Florida, 924 Lincoln Road. The artists will have their artwork displayed at the ArtCenter/South Florida.

The Fujisawa, Japan delegation was also honored at the Miami Beach Commission meeting on July 30, 2003.

The Japanese Artists Exchange Program is made possible by a grant from the Florida Department of State and by ArtCenter/South Florida, CORT Furniture Rentals, the Mirador, The Barcelona Apartments (Miami Beach), and the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.

The Sister Cities International Program is the premier citizen diplomacy network in the United States and leads the national movement for global community partnerships and volunteer action. Established in 1959, the City of Miami Beach Sister Cities International Coordinating Council is a volunteer board.
