Lincoln Road, once
known as one of the hottest shopping streets in the country, and known
today as the cultural center of South Florida, is experiencing a retail
rebirth. Lincoln Road is home to a 7 block pedestrian mall on a
street stretching from the beach and Atlantic Ocean to Biscayne Bay.
There are approximately
400 businesses within the commercial area.
Location - The
Lincoln Road Shopping District runs east-west from Collins Avenue to Bay
Road between 16th and 17th Streets. Lincoln Road
is located one block south of the Miami Beach Convention Center and the
Jackie Gleason Theater of Performing Arts.
Access - The
district is easily accessed by car, as well as bicycle, roller blades,
and foot. Easy vehicular access is available from Collins Avenue,
Washington Avenue, Alton Road, and 17th Street. Parking is
available in numerous parking lots located between 17th
Street and Lincoln Road, as well as in the 1400 space parking lot garage
located at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Both the
Collins avenue and Washington Avenue ELECTROWAVE
routes stop at Lincoln Road.
Parking: A
multi-level parking garage is located at the intersection of
17th St. and Convention Center Dr. Hourly and metered
parking is also located in lots off of 17th St. near
Pennsylvania Ave. and Drexel Ave.
Lincoln
Road Market -
The Lincoln Road Market is a
farmer's market that offers a wide variety of fresh vegetables,
fruits, juices, home-made breads and flowers. Popular
among South Beach locals. The market is located in the
Lincoln Road Mall, a pedestrian street packed with an wide array
of international restaurants, shops and theaters. Hours: The market is
open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday year round.
