Captain Mildred “Mimi” Pfrogner has served with the Miami Beach Police Department since 1997. During her career she has served in a variety of ranks and capacities including: patrol, special operations, backgrounds, support services, records management, field training, all redevelopment areas (RDA) and Internal Affairs. Captain Pfrogner has also served as the Department's liaison to numerous organizations including the Miami Beach Chaplain Program, Dade County Public Schools, Parent Teacher Associations and the Police Athletic League. Captain Pfrogner's current assignment is as the Commander of Area 2, the city’s middle district, which includes the Marine Patrol Unit, the School Liaison Officers and the 41st Street and Boardwalk beats.
Captain Pfrogner has coordinated a number of major events including the staffing and operational plans for Memorial Day Weekend, Spring Break, Halloween and the South Beach Seafood Festival. She revised the Department's Hurricane Plan to integrate compliance with the Incident Command System, and led the successful implementation of the New World Records Management System. Captain Pfrogner is a founding member of the Women’s Leadership Team focusing on mentorship for the sworn and civilian women of the MBPD. For 10 years Captain Pfrogner has lead the Kindergarten Cop program, an innovative platform designed to bring a police officer into contact with every Kindergarten student in our Miami Beach Public Schools. Officers teach a variety of lessons to include calling 911, bullying and stranger danger. Each summer Captain Pfrogner coordinates Law Enforcement themed summer camps. The Junior Police and Young Women in Command camps are highly anticipated and filled to capacity each summer. Under the sponsorship of the Police Athletic League Captain Pfrogner manages Boy Scout Pack and Troop #65 ensuring the young people of Miami Beach have the guidance necessary to make positive moral and ethical choices over their lifetimes and are prepared to take on leadership roles in their future.
Captain Pfrogner is the recipient of numerous commendations including the City of Miami Beach's Employee of the Year Award and the Department's Outstanding Service Award. She holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Barry University and is currently working towards a Master's degree in Social Work from Florida International University. Captain Pfrogner is also a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum's Senior Management Institute for Police and the Leadership in Police Organizations course.
