1. Election of a new Board Chair

                    Mr. Mitch Novick was elected Chair.

2. Requests for Continuances

                    None

3. Discussion: Amendment to HP Ordinance

Potential Demolition of Fire Station No. 4 discussed. Board adopts a resolution encouraging the City Manager to retain and preserve the structure.

4. Discussion: A request by the City of Miami Beach Planning Department for the Historic Preservation Board to consider directing staff to prepare a preliminary evaluation and recommendation report relative to the possible designation of the Flagler Memorial and Monument Island, located between the MacArthur and Venetian Causeways in Biscayne Bay, as a local historic site.

                    Board approved request to prepare a preliminary evaluation.

5. Extensions of Time:

a. HPB File No. 1214 (Formerly Joint Board File No. 11466J), 900 Ocean Drive - Mango's. The applicant, David Wallack, is requesting a one (1) year Extension of Time to obtain a Building Permit for a previously issued Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to replace the existing awning over the central patio and entrance with a glass skylight.

                    APPROVED: 1 year.

b. HPB File No. 1209 (Formerly Joint Board File No. 11938J), 7301 Collins Avenue - Manhattan International Bakery. The applicant, Joseph Kaller, is requesting a one (1) year Extension of Time to obtain a Building Permit for a previously issued Certificate of Appropriateness for the renovation and alteration of an existing one-story commercial structure and construction of an outdoor seating area.

                    APPROVED: 1 year.

Previously Continued Projects:

1. HPB File No. 1145, 744 Lincoln Road - The 24 Collection. The applicant, IMCO Trading Co., is requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for the partial demolition and alteration of existing storefront windows, in conjunction with the introduction of new storefronts and doors.

                    No action was taken.

2. HPB File No. 1184, 3425 Collins Avenue - Bikini Beach Cafe. The applicant, Bikini Beach Cafe, Inc., is requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for the demolition of existing canopies and structures, and the construction of new decks and kiosks in the rear of the property.

                    New Projects:

1. HPB File No. 1211, 640 Ocean Drive - Park Central Hotel. The applicant, Tony Goldman, is requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for the partial demolition and alteration of an existing hotel, in conjunction with the construction of a new roof deck and pool.

                    Roof Deck APPROVED: Grade level deck CONTINUED to 4/10/01.

2. HPB File No. 1213, 1414 Collins Avenue - Nassau Hotel. The applicant, Nassau Investments, Corp., is requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for the partial demolition, alteration, renovation and restoration, of an existing three (3) story hotel, inclusive of the new construction of a new four (4) story annex structure.

                    CONTINUED: To 5/8/01

3. HPB File No. 1216, 1433 Collins Avenue - Carlton Hotel. The applicant, Hilton Grand Vacations, Co., is requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for the partial demolition, alteration, renovation and restoration, of an existing hotel, inclusive of the construction of a new four (4) story annex structure.

4. HPB File No. 1212, 405 Espanola Way and 1438 Washington Avenue - Decorative Lighting. The applicants, Espanola Way Associates, Inc. And Espanola Way Corp., are requesting an "after-the-fact" Certificate of Appropriateness for the installation of exterior accent lighting.

                    APPROVED: As submitted.

5. HPB File No. 1217, 750 Collins Avenue - Quiksilver. The applicant, Quiksilver, is requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for the installation of decorative surfboards.

                    APPROVED: As submitted.

6. HPB File No. 1218 (formerly Joint Board File No. 9607J), 1412 Ocean Drive. The applicant, Eugene Rodriguez, is a requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for revisions to previously approved plans in order to partially demolish, alter and modify an existing storefront.

7. HPB File No. 1140, 901 Lincoln Road - Victoria’s Secret. The applicant, Victoria’s Secret, c/o Limited Store Planning, is requesting a revision to a previously issued Certificate of Appropriateness for the partial demolition and alteration of an existing retail structure in conjunction with the renovation and restoration of the structure and accommodation of a new retail use.

                    APPROVED: As submitted.
