DONATIONS

The most effective way to assist is to donate (money, rather than goods) to reputable organizations.
The City of Miami Beach does not endorse any particular organization, but The American Red Cross has been assisting in this particular incident. Monetary contributions to ARC fund response efforts and allows for immediate assistance, including financial assistance to the disaster survivors.

Local organizations are collecting goods such as clothing and bedding. Please do not use this as an opportunity to clean out closets and garages. Pay attention to the specific requests and donate new or very gently used items only.

All Miami Beach residents and businesses are strongly encouraged to check their hurricane preparedness kits, review their family emergency plans, and remain informed during hurricane season. Hurricane Season is from June 1 to November 30.

As a reminder, all of Miami Beach is located within a storm surge planning zone, which means evacuation may be ordered if storm surge is a threat. Plan in advance where you will stay, how you will get there, and what supplies you will take in case an evacuation order is issued. Also, give yourself ample time to get to a safe area. For more information on how to prepare, go to our Hurricane Information Center.

Other

Storm Surge Simulator is a new online tool that is designed to help you evaluate your vulnerability to storm surge — but it should not be used to determine if you should evacuate. Always follow the protective actions issued by emergency officials. If an evacuation is ordered and included the City of Miami Beach, you should initiate your evacuation plan and leave the city.
