Economic Development

The City’s Economic Development initiatives are business assistance, attracting and supporting private capital investment and market research, coordinated out of the Tourism, Cultural & Economic Development Department.

The Economic Development Mission is to work with businesses and organizations in order to enhance the City’s business environment and to promote the overall image of the City’s commercial districts; identify and implement strategies and programs to expand, develop, recruit and retain businesses; conduct research in order to provide as much economic information as possible to existing and potential investors; apply private sector standards for responsiveness and customer satisfaction in order to encourage investment; work with the State and Federal governments to further the City’s interests; and balance private sector needs with neighborhood quality of life issues.
