Fernandez wurde 2021 erstmals gew\u00e4hlt und 2025 mit einem historischen, rekordverd\u00e4chtigen Ergebnis wiedergew\u00e4hlt \u2013 dem h\u00f6chsten Stimmenanteil, der jemals von einem Stadtrat in Miami Beach erzielt wurde. Er wurde von der ehemaligen Bezirkskommissarin von Miami-Dade County, Rebeca Sosa, dem ehemaligen B\u00fcrgermeister von Miami Beach, Matti Herrera Bower, und der ehemaligen Kommissarin von Miami Beach, Deede Weithorn, gef\u00f6rdert. Er brachte die erste gr\u00f6\u00dfere Aktualisierung des Denkmalschutzgesetzes seit vier Jahrzehnten auf den Weg, schuf einen steuerlichen Anreiz f\u00fcr die Denkmalpflege und setzte sich \u00fcber zwei Legislaturperioden hinweg daf\u00fcr ein, das Art-Deco-Viertel von Miami Beach vor staatlichen Eingriffen zu sch\u00fctzen und lokale Architekturstandards im Live Local Act zu bewahren.<\/p>\n<p>Stadtrat Fernandez setzte au\u00dferdem das Rauchverbot an den Str\u00e4nden durch, brachte ein Gesetz zum \u00f6ffentlichen Campen auf den Weg, das die Obdachlosigkeit deutlich reduzierte, setzte sich f\u00fcr Ma\u00dfnahmen ein, die das Chaos w\u00e4hrend der Spring Break-Ferien eind\u00e4mmten, und trieb eine wegweisende \u00f6ffentlich-private Partnerschaft zur Revitalisierung der H\u00e4userbl\u00f6cke 100\u2013300 der Lincoln Road voran. Er spielte eine f\u00fchrende Rolle bei der Schlie\u00dfung der Finanzierungsl\u00fccke f\u00fcr den Bayshore Park und schlug erfolgreich eine Senkung des Grundsteuersatzes vor \u2013 die erste Senkung seit 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Stadtrat Fernandez setzt sich vehement f\u00fcr den Schutz der Bewohner ein \u2013 von Mieterschutz und Wohnungswirkungsanalysen bis hin zu Reformen, die den Missbrauch von Partyh\u00e4usern beenden und den Alkoholverkauf in Wohngebieten einschr\u00e4nken.
