Nirgendwo wird die Stellung unserer Stadt auf der Weltb\u00fchne deutlicher als durch das Miami Beach Sister Cities-Programm, das seit seiner Einf\u00fchrung im Jahr 1959 gewachsen ist und mittlerweile 13 globale Partnerst\u00e4dte umfasst, die formelle kulturelle und wirtschaftliche Bindungen mit der Stadt gekn\u00fcpft haben.<\/p>\n\t

Miami Beach ist nicht der einzige Ort, der St\u00e4dtepartnerschaften pflegt. Dies ist dem zweimaligen US-Pr\u00e4sidenten und F\u00fcnf-Sterne-General Dwight D. Eisenhower zu verdanken, dessen pr\u00e4sidiale Initiative 1956 die Gr\u00fcndung von Sister Cities International vornahm. Das Programm hat sich zu einer nationalen Mitgliederorganisation mit 465 US-Gemeinden und \u00fcber 1.800 Partnerschaften in mehr als 138 L\u00e4ndern auf sechs Kontinenten entwickelt.<\/p>\n

Zwar hat jede teilnehmende Gemeinde ihre eigene ausgepr\u00e4gte Kultur, doch haben sie auch die gemeinsame Vision, sich durch Programme und Projekte mit Schwerpunkt auf Kunst und Kultur, Jugend und Bildung, Wirtschaft und Handel sowie Gemeindeentwicklung f\u00fcr den Weltfrieden einzusetzen.<\/p>\n
