Februar 2025<\/h2>\r\n<h3>\u2013 Um das Leben eines LGBTQ- und Menschenrechtsaktivisten zu ehren \u2013<\/h3>\r\n<p><strong>Miami Beach, FL \u2013 <\/strong>Die Stadt Miami Beach wird eine Gedenktafel enth\u00fcllen, um das bemerkenswerte Leben und Verm\u00e4chtnis des verstorbenen LGBTQ- und Menschenrechtsaktivisten zu ehren <strong>Joe Tom Easley<\/strong>Die Zeremonie findet statt am <strong>Montag, 3. M\u00e4rz <\/strong>bei<strong> 16 Uhr<\/strong> In <strong>Pride Park<\/strong> bei <strong>19 St<\/strong> Und<strong> Meridian Avenue.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>\u201eJoe Tom Easley war ein unerm\u00fcdlicher Verfechter von Fairness und Gerechtigkeit\u201c, teilte Miami Beach mit <strong>B\u00fcrgermeister Steven Meiner<\/strong>\u201eSeine Arbeit hat nicht nur das Leben unz\u00e4hliger Menschen ver\u00e4ndert, sondern auch das Fundament unserer Gemeinschaft gest\u00e4rkt.\u201c<\/p>\r\n<p>Easley, der im Februar 2022 verstarb, war auch Anwalt und leidenschaftlicher Verfechter des Denkmalschutzes. Sein Leben lang setzte er sich unerm\u00fcdlich f\u00fcr Gleichheit, Gerechtigkeit und Fairness ein und wurde zu einer f\u00fchrenden Pers\u00f6nlichkeit der B\u00fcrgerrechts- und LGBTQ-Bewegung. Er trug ma\u00dfgeblich zu bedeutenden gesellschaftlichen Ver\u00e4nderungen bei, insbesondere zur Aufhebung der \u201eDon&#039;t ask, don&#039;t tell\u201c-Politik des US-Milit\u00e4rs, die Schwule und Lesben daran hinderte, offen zu dienen.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>\u201eJoe Toms Leben veranschaulichte das Beste, was uns als Stadt ausmacht \u2013 einladend, mitf\u00fchlend und dem Fortschritt verpflichtet\u201c, f\u00fcgte er hinzu <strong>Vizeb\u00fcrgermeisterin Tanya Katzoff Bhatt<\/strong>\u201eEr k\u00e4mpfte nicht nur f\u00fcr die Rechte von LGBTQ+-Personen, sondern auch f\u00fcr die Bewahrung unserer gemeinsamen Geschichte. <\/em>Die im Pride Park enth\u00fcllte Gedenktafel wird als dauerhafte Erinnerung an Easleys unersch\u00fctterliches Engagement f\u00fcr Gerechtigkeit, Gleichheit und Denkmalschutz dienen.\u201c<\/p>\r\n<p>Easley stammt aus Texas und wuchs in einer kleinen Bauerngemeinde auf. In jungen Jahren arbeitete er als DJ und Sportkommentator. Nach seinem Dienst bei der Marine engagierte er sich f\u00fcr die Rechte von LGBTQ-Soldaten.<\/p>\r\n<p>Nach seinem Jurastudium an der University of Texas wurde er zu einem einflussreichen Mitglied des Southern Regional Council, wo er die Diskriminierung afroamerikanischer Bev\u00f6lkerungsgruppen durch die Regierung \u00fcberwachte. Sp\u00e4ter arbeitete er in Europa, leitete umfangreiche Untersuchungen zur Preisabsprache im Arzneimittelbereich und riskierte sogar seine Sicherheit, um die wertvollen Familienfotos eines Freundes aus der ehemaligen kommunistisch kontrollierten Tschechischen Republik herauszuschmuggeln.<\/p>\r\n<p>Im Jahr 2003 geh\u00f6rten Easley und sein Partner Peter Freiberg zu den ersten amerikanischen Paaren, die nach \u00fcber zwei Jahrzehnten Ehe in Kanada legal heirateten. Ihre Verbindung, die sp\u00e4ter in Kanada anerkannt wurde, als der Oberste Gerichtshof der USA die gleichgeschlechtliche Ehe legalisierte, symbolisierte die Best\u00e4ndigkeit ihrer Liebe und Verbundenheit.<\/p>\r\n<p>Easleys Arbeit mit Lambda Legal, der Human Rights Campaign Foundation und dem Servicemembers&#039; Legal Defense Network trug ma\u00dfgeblich zur F\u00f6rderung der Rechte von LGBTQ-Personen bei, insbesondere im US-Milit\u00e4r. Zu seinen zahlreichen Erfolgen z\u00e4hlte auch der Einsatz f\u00fcr die \u00dcberf\u00fchrung eines verletzten irakischen Kindes zur medizinischen Behandlung w\u00e4hrend des Irakkriegs in die USA.<\/p>\r\n<p>Easleys Engagement erstreckte sich auch auf den Denkmalschutz.
