Das \u00e4nderte sich im Juli 1912, als die Br\u00fcder John Newton Lummus und James Edward Lummus den ersten offiziellen Plan zur Erschlie\u00dfung des Landes auf der Barriereinsel gegen\u00fcber der Biscayne Bay einreichten.<\/p>\n<p>Damals war die Insel weitgehend unzug\u00e4nglich. Man musste mit dem Boot reisen, und es gab keine Br\u00fccke zum Festland. Dennoch erkannten die Lummus-Br\u00fcder, beide prominente Gesch\u00e4ftsleute und ehemalige B\u00fcrgermeister von Miami, ungenutztes Potenzial. Sie gr\u00fcndeten gemeinsam mit dem Unternehmer Carl G. Fisher, einem Pionier der amerikanischen Automobilindustrie und erfahrenen Promoter, die Ocean Beach Realty Company. Ihr Ziel war es, das Land in ein erstklassiges Urlaubsziel zu verwandeln.<\/p>\n<p>Mit der Einreichung des Lageplans konnte das Unternehmen mit der Parzellierung des Landes f\u00fcr Verkauf und Bebauung beginnen und damit Miami Beach offiziell als Planstadt etablieren. Ihre Vision war ehrgeizig. Sie stellten sich eine Stadt vor, die wohlhabende Besucher aus dem Norden anziehen w\u00fcrde, angezogen von der Aussicht auf Sonnenschein, Meeresbrise und die M\u00f6glichkeit, dem kalten Winter zu entfliehen.<\/p>\n<p>Der Bau der Collins Bridge begann kurz darauf und wurde 1913 abgeschlossen. Sie verband Miami mit der Insel und machte die Siedlung \u00fcber die Stra\u00dfe erreichbar. Diese neue Verbindung f\u00f6rderte ein rasantes Wachstum. Am 26. M\u00e4rz 1915 wurde die Stadt Miami Beach offiziell gegr\u00fcndet. John N.
