Juni 1913 wurde eine 4 Kilometer lange Holzbr\u00fccke \u00fcber die Biscayne Bay er\u00f6ffnet und ver\u00e4nderte damit die Zukunft von Miami Beach f\u00fcr immer. Die als Collins Bridge bekannte Br\u00fccke war die erste, die die vorgelagerte Insel mit dem Festland verband und galt damals als die l\u00e4ngste Holzbr\u00fccke der Welt.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamibeachfl.gov\/de\/this-month-in-miami-beach-history-the-bridge-that-built-a-city\/june12\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-401383\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.miamibeachfl.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/june12-300x272.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"272\" data-warning=\"Missing alt text\" \/><\/a>\n<p>Vor dem Br\u00fcckenbau war man nur mit der F\u00e4hre \u00fcber die Bucht nach Miami Beach zu erreichen. Die nat\u00fcrliche Sch\u00f6nheit der Insel war zwar unbestreitbar, doch die eingeschr\u00e4nkte Erreichbarkeit erschwerte eine gro\u00dffl\u00e4chige Bebauung. Das \u00e4nderte sich, als der Agrarunternehmer und Bautr\u00e4ger John S. Collins beschloss, eine Br\u00fccke zu bauen, die seine L\u00e4ndereien mit der wachsenden Stadt Miami verbinden sollte. Als die Baukosten die Erwartungen \u00fcberstiegen, sprang der vision\u00e4re Carl G. Fisher mit der Finanzierung ein und trug so zur Fertigstellung des Projekts bei.<\/p>\n<p>Die Br\u00fccke leistete weit mehr, als nur zwei Landst\u00fccke zu verbinden.
