\n\t\t\t– Applications are now open for up to $20,000 per property through the city’s Private Property Adaptation Program – \t<\/h3>\n\t

Miami Beach, Florida<\/strong> – With more than 90% of seawalls in Miami Beach owned by private entities, the city is offering up to $20,000 in reimbursement grants for eligible seawall improvements through the city’s Fight the Flood Private Property Adaptation (PPA) program. Of the approximately 55 miles of seawalls on the island, all but 5 miles are privately held.<\/p>\n

“Last week’s king tides were one of the highest recorded at the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Virginia Key tidal gauge, outside of a named storm,” shared Miami Beach-Beauftragte Laura Dominguez<\/strong>. “Elevating seawalls to meet the height requirements for today and in the future is an important risk reduction strategy in the city’s Sea Level Rise Adaptation Plan, which was funded by the State Resilient Florida program.”<\/p>\n

Das PPA-Programm bietet Beratung und F\u00f6rdermittel f\u00fcr Ma\u00dfnahmen zur Hochwasserminderung. Ziel des Programms ist es, das Risiko von \u00dcberschwemmungen und Hochwassersch\u00e4den in der gesamten K\u00fcstenregion zu reduzieren, da sich 931 Geb\u00e4ude in Miami Beach innerhalb des von der FEMA ausgewiesenen \u00dcberschwemmungsgefahrengebiets befinden.<\/p>\n

Die aktuelle F\u00f6rderrunde richtet sich ausschlie\u00dflich an private und gewerbliche Immobilieneigent\u00fcmer, die Uferbefestigungsprojekte realisieren m\u00f6chten. Die F\u00f6rderung deckt keine Steganlagen, Terrassen, Stegfundamente, Pfahlummantelungen oder sonstige Arbeiten ab, die nicht in direktem Zusammenhang mit Uferbefestigungen stehen. Antr\u00e4ge werden entgegengenommen, bis die F\u00f6rderkapazit\u00e4t des Programms erreicht ist.<\/p>\n

“With approximately 50 of the city’s 55 miles of seawalls privately owned, strengthening our shoreline requires a shared effort,” said Steven Meiner, B\u00fcrgermeister von Miami Beach<\/strong>. “These grants will help accelerate critical seawall improvements that reduce flood risk and build a more resilient Miami Beach.”<\/p>\n

Antragsberechtigte mit niedrigem bis mittlerem Einkommen erhalten eine vollst\u00e4ndige Projektfinanzierung bis zu $20.000 ohne Eigenanteil. Die Auszahlung erfolgt erst nach Projektabschluss. Properties on the west side of Miami Beach, which borders Biscayne Bay are particularly vulnerable to flooding while properties on the east side are largely protected by the city’s extensive dune and beach system that runs along 7 miles of the Atlantic coastline.<\/p>\n

The program is administered by the Miami Beach Environment and Sustainability Department.  The department works to increase the resilience of Miami Beach by reducing environmental risk, protecting natural ecosystems, and fostering sustainable practices.
