Abbott Florist se fund\u00f3 en 1990 cuando Romina y su familia llegaron a Miami Beach desde Argentina, donde su padre hab\u00eda tenido y operado una florister\u00eda. Naturalmente, su primera inclinaci\u00f3n fue abrir una propia en Estados Unidos. Despu\u00e9s de un tiempo, el negocio pas\u00f3 a manos de Romina, quien continu\u00f3 gestion\u00e1ndolo como un negocio familiar.<\/p>\n<p>Como cualquier negocio que ha permanecido abierto durante un per\u00edodo prolongado, Abbott Florist ha superado enormes dificultades. Abbott Florist ha sobrevivido a la recesi\u00f3n posterior a la burbuja puntocom, a la Gran Recesi\u00f3n de 2008 y, m\u00e1s recientemente, a la pandemia de COVID-19. Al igual que muchos otros negocios, Abbott Florist cerr\u00f3 durante cinco meses durante la pandemia y la situaci\u00f3n se presentaba sombr\u00eda. Romina contact\u00f3 al proveedor y logr\u00f3 conseguir esas flores, que us\u00f3 para decorar las largas filas y a los asistentes a la colecta. Tal fue el impacto en la comunidad que, dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, la gente todav\u00eda visita la tienda de Romina y le agradece por decorar la fila con flores y brindarles al menos un momento de felicidad en esos tiempos dif\u00edciles. Al contribuir a la comunidad, la gente sigue comprando en su tienda, lo que a su vez beneficia su negocio.<\/p>\n<p>Durante este per\u00edodo de recuperaci\u00f3n, Romina pudo encontrar ayuda con la ayuda de la Ciudad de Miami Beach y de Prospera. El Departamento de Desarrollo Econ\u00f3mico de la Ciudad de Miami Beach ofreci\u00f3 a las empresas de Miami Beach una Subvenci\u00f3n Global para el Desarrollo Comunitario por el Coronavirus (CDBG-CV), dise\u00f1ada para ayudar a las peque\u00f1as empresas que tuvieron que cerrar o se vieron afectadas por la pandemia. Romina solicit\u00f3 esta subvenci\u00f3n y recibi\u00f3 $20,000 de fondos CDBG-CV que utiliz\u00f3 para ponerse al d\u00eda con el alquiler y comprar inventario adicional ahora que su negocio estaba funcionando de nuevo.<\/p>\n<p>A trav\u00e9s de la Academia de Negocios de Miami Beach, Romina tambi\u00e9n recibi\u00f3 asistencia t\u00e9cnica gratuita de Prospera. Prospera es una organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro dedicada a brindar asistencia t\u00e9cnica a emprendedores de bajos recursos para que puedan alcanzar mejor sus objetivos comerciales. Romina asisti\u00f3 a uno de los seminarios web mensuales sobre desarrollo de capacidades y a las sesiones de capacitaci\u00f3n presencial de 4 d\u00edas impartidas por Prospera, enfocadas en ense\u00f1ar a los emprendedores c\u00f3mo aplicar la tecnolog\u00eda a sus negocios, los fundamentos de la tecnolog\u00eda, el marketing digital y la ciberseguridad.
