La jefa Digna Abello se convierte en la primera mujer en dirigir el Departamento de Bomberos de Miami Beach desde que se estableci\u00f3 la agencia el 26 de enero de 1921. Con su nombramiento un\u00e1nime, la jefa Abello tambi\u00e9n se convierte en la primera mujer en servir como jefa de bomberos municipal en la historia del condado de Miami-Dade.<\/p>\n

Desde que comenz\u00f3 su carrera como bombero en Miami Beach hace m\u00e1s de 19 a\u00f1os, se ha guiado por una s\u00f3lida moral y la convicci\u00f3n de que el liderazgo se basa en servir al bienestar de los dem\u00e1s. Desde el inicio de su carrera, se distingui\u00f3 r\u00e1pidamente, ascendiendo en la agencia y participando en todos los asuntos e iniciativas importantes del departamento.<\/p>\n

Durante la pandemia de COVID-19, la Jefa Abello dirigi\u00f3 la estrategia integral de respuesta del departamento, incluyendo el programa de vacunaci\u00f3n de la agencia, que inocul\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de 13,000 residentes vulnerables. Comprometida con la excelencia en el servicio p\u00fablico, ha supervisado dos rigurosos ciclos de acreditaci\u00f3n para mantener la prestigiosa calificaci\u00f3n ISO Clase 1 de la Oficina de Servicios de Seguros, un logro que ostentan poco m\u00e1s de 1% de las 37,983 agencias de bomberos participantes en Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n

Si bien se siente honrada de ser la primera mujer en ocupar el cargo de jefa, su ferviente deseo es que m\u00e1s mujeres consideren carreras en el servicio de bomberos y aspiren a puestos de liderazgo.
