Los votantes eligen al alcalde y a los comisionados como representantes de la ciudad mediante elecciones no partidistas celebradas en a\u00f1os impares. El alcalde es elegido para ejercer un mandato de dos a\u00f1os, con un l\u00edmite de tres mandatos consecutivos. Los mandatos de la Comisi\u00f3n se escalonan para que no todos los comisionados se presenten a la reelecci\u00f3n simult\u00e1neamente.<\/p>\n<p>Como funcionarios electos, el Alcalde y los Comisionados responden a las necesidades de los ciudadanos que solicitan su asistencia en asuntos relacionados con la gobernanza y el funcionamiento de la Ciudad de Miami Beach. Mediante la promulgaci\u00f3n de ordenanzas y resoluciones, la revisi\u00f3n y aprobaci\u00f3n de licitaciones y contratos, y la concesi\u00f3n de certificados y proclamaciones, la Comisi\u00f3n Municipal trabaja para mejorar la calidad de vida, el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico y una mejor comunicaci\u00f3n entre el gobierno municipal y la comunidad.<\/p>\n<p>Para complementar los esfuerzos de la Comisi\u00f3n Municipal, el personal de oficina sirve de enlace entre los funcionarios electos y su circunscripci\u00f3n, adem\u00e1s de colaborar directamente con la Administraci\u00f3n Municipal para abordar los problemas y asuntos planteados por la comunidad.
