Art Deco Weekend is a free community cultural festival celebrating Miami’s architecture, history, arts, and culture. Organized by the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL), the festival will celebrate its 48th year in 2025 with the theme: Art Deco Centennial 1925-2025
On Monday, January 20 guests can enjoy three musical acts at the Jazz Age Stage in Lummus Park – 12 St & Ocean Drive
1:30 PM – Michael Cady
Michael Cady, a Detroit native, is known for his versatility in jazz, transitioning from the stylings of Eddie Jefferson to lead singer in Teddy Harris Jr.’s Be Bop Society Jazz Orchestra. His performances have taken him to prestigious venues like the historic Bakers Keyboard Lounge, as well as concert halls and jazz and blues festivals in cities such as Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, and Miami. Cady has collaborated with renowned musicians including Marcus Belgrave, Harold McKinney, Rudy Robinson, and Marion Hayden.
3:30 PM – LeNard Rutledge Jazz Ensemble
The Miami-based LeNard Rutledge Jazz Ensemble is known for its captivating performances that blend elegance with the passion of gospel music. Named “Best Jazz Artist” by the Miami New Times, Rutledge’s dynamic stage presence, paired with his ensemble, creates an engaging experience for jazz lovers and dancers alike.
6:00 PM – Acute Inflections
Acute Inflections, a jazz and R&B duo from New York, features a former Broadway singer and has entertained clients like the United Nations and Mercedes-Benz. With performances at high-profile events, they have shared the stage with artists like Jennifer Hudson, Sting, and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Their albums frequently chart in jazz, and their performances are both captivating and fun, blending influences of Erykah Badu, Billie Holiday, and cool jazz grooves.
