Embark on a sensory journey through the vivid landscapes that inspired two unique works for percussion and electronics: Kaija Saariaho’s Six Japanese Gardens and Christopher Cerrone’s Memory Palace. Each piece captures the essence of a different place—Saariaho’s inspired by the serene gardens of Japan and Cerrone’s by personal memories shaped through sound. With immersive visuals and the use of live electronics, this concert unveils new possibilities in percussion performance. By showcasing rarely-heard instruments and extended techniques, audiences are invited into the heart of contemporary music’s expressive potential. This recital is an invitation to explore unfamiliar sonic landscapes, shedding new light on the world of electronic and percussive sound and opening up possibilities for engaging with music in an innovative and unforgettable way.
