Of the approximately 55 miles of seawalls on the island, all but 5 miles are privately held.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last week&#8217;s king tides were one of the highest recorded at the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Virginia Key tidal gauge, outside of a named storm,&#8221; shared <strong>Laura Dominguez, commissaire de Miami Beach<\/strong>. &#8220;Elevating seawalls to meet the height requirements for today and in the future is an important risk reduction strategy in the city&#8217;s Sea Level Rise Adaptation Plan, which was funded by the State Resilient Florida program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Le programme PPA finance des mesures d&#039;am\u00e9lioration de la protection contre les inondations, en accordant des conseils et des subventions. Les propri\u00e9taires doivent remplir un formulaire de demande complet et satisfaire aux crit\u00e8res d&#039;admissibilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Properties on the west side of Miami Beach, which borders Biscayne Bay are particularly vulnerable to flooding while properties on the east side are largely protected by the city&#8217;s extensive dune and beach system that runs along 7 miles of the Atlantic coastline.<\/p>\n<p>The program is administered by the Miami Beach Environment and Sustainability Department.&nbsp; The department works to increase the resilience of Miami Beach by reducing environmental risk, protecting natural ecosystems, and fostering sustainable practices.
