Deputy Chief Rick Clements has served with the Miami Beach Police Department since 1990. During his tenure, Deputy Chief Clements has served in a variety of capacities and positions of rank including: criminal investigations, patrol operations, crime prevention, and Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). His most recent assignment was as the Major of the Investigations and Support Services Unit.
Chief Clements has coordinated numerous major events including: staffing and operational planning for Presidential visits by G.W. Bush, Barak Obama, and Vice President Biden. He has provided key managerial oversight for a number of special events and missions including: the 2005 Organization of American States Conference, the 2004 Presidential Debate, 2003 Hurricane Charley assistance, the Free Trade of the Americas Summit in 2003, Super Bowl XLI, and Miami Beach Memorial Day Weekend.
Chief Clements holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Utah, and is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police. He has received the Miami Beach Police Department’s Medal of Valor and Outstanding Service Award. He has also been awarded numerous awards and honors over the course of his career including the Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Award and Officer of the Month for Miami-Dade County.
