Os eleitores elegem o prefeito e os comiss\u00e1rios como representantes da cidade por meio de elei\u00e7\u00f5es apartid\u00e1rias realizadas em anos \u00edmpares, sendo o prefeito eleito para mandatos de dois anos, com um limite de tr\u00eas mandatos consecutivos. Os mandatos da Comiss\u00e3o s\u00e3o escalonados para que nem todos os comiss\u00e1rios sejam reeleitos ao mesmo tempo.<\/p>\n<p>Como autoridades eleitas, o Prefeito e os Comiss\u00e1rios respondem aos cidad\u00e3os que buscam sua assist\u00eancia em quest\u00f5es que envolvem a governan\u00e7a e o funcionamento da Cidade de Miami Beach. Por meio da promulga\u00e7\u00e3o de portarias e resolu\u00e7\u00f5es, da revis\u00e3o e aprova\u00e7\u00e3o de licita\u00e7\u00f5es e contratos e da concess\u00e3o de certificados e proclama\u00e7\u00f5es, a Comiss\u00e3o Municipal trabalha para melhorar a qualidade de vida, o desenvolvimento econ\u00f4mico e aprimorar a comunica\u00e7\u00e3o entre o governo municipal e a comunidade.<\/p>\n<p>Trabalhando para complementar os esfor\u00e7os da Comiss\u00e3o Municipal, os funcion\u00e1rios administrativos servem como ponte entre os representantes eleitos e seus eleitores, al\u00e9m de trabalhar diretamente com a Administra\u00e7\u00e3o Municipal para resolver os problemas e quest\u00f5es levantados pela comunidade.
