Flamingo Park Master Plan Improvements
Flamingo Park is a 36.5-acre park located within the boundaries of the Historic Flamingo Park neighborhood in South Beach. Located between Alton Road and Meridian Avenue, the south limit is 11 Street and the north limit is near Espanola Way. Flamingo Park is one of the most active parks in Miami Beach. As such, the City is always working to enhance the facilities available. There are many elements to the Flamingo Park Master Plan; different work tasks are scheduled to take place on various timelines, some already complete.
Phase I of this plan addressed park-wide renovations including landscape, irrigation and drainage improvements, as well as the addition and renovation of walkways, new estate fencing, and pedestrian lighting. Phase II work, implemented while Phase I was ongoing, involved creating an outdoor fitness zone within the park.
The handball courts project includes various electrical upgrades, adding sports lighting, new general lighting, stucco repairs, court resurfacing, new frameless windows and doors, new fencing and painting. The courts will also include seating areas and water drinking fountains for players and visitors.
Future baseball field renovations include improvements such as a new artificial turf playing field, improved drainage and irrigation, new ADA seating area at bleachers, new access ramps and stairs to the seating area, renovations to the press box and bathrooms, new LED sports lighting, new fencing, updated drinking water fountains, new landscaping, renovation of ticket booth, upgraded dugouts, as well as new padding poles inside field and behind home plate.
