On November 1, 2017 the City of Miami Beach will be soft launching the new South Beach Loop with full service implementation by November 19, 2017. Once the South Beach Loop trolley service is fully implemented on November 19, 2017, the County-operated South Beach Local and City-operated Alton-West Loop trolley service will be discontinued.
To improve accessibility and facilitate boarding and alighting of passengers, a fleet of ten (10) new low-floor trolley vehicles will operate along the new South Beach Loop trolley route. With full service implementation on November 19, 2017, the frequency of service along the new route will be 10-15 minutes, similar to frequency along other trolley routes (Middle Beach Loop, Collins Link and the North Beach Loop). Hours of service of South Beach Loop trolley service will be the same as hours of service of other trolley routes (365 days a year, Monday through Saturday 6AM to midnight and 8AM to midnight on Sundays).
With implementation of new South Beach Loop trolley route, the City is establishing free citywide trolley system, enabling travel from South Pointe Drive to 87 Street with as little as one (1) transfer.
