— The Hyundai Air & Sea Show kicks off the city’s America 250 celebration —

Miami Beach, Flórida – The dazzling U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds make their first-ever Miami Beach appearance at this year’s Hyundai Air & Sea Show sobre Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 as the city kicks off its high-flying America 250 celebration with family-friendly events over the long Memorial Day Weekend.

“This is the perfect time to launch our America 250 celebration,” said Prefeito de Miami Beach, Steven Meiner. "Our new 'Miami Beach FREEDOM' exhibition at Galeria Ocean Drive invites us all to reflect on the service and patriotism that define the American spirit as we honor our city's legacy as a WWII training ground and look forward to the next chapter of our nation’s great story.”

“There is no better time than Memorial Day weekend to pay tribute to our Military and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our freedom,” shared Mickey Markoff, Executive Producer of the National Salute to America’s Heroes, presented by Hyundai.

Here’s the complete list of events for Memorial Day weekend:

Galería Ocean Drive – Miami Beach FREEDOM

The city will open a special outdoor exhibit on Quinta-feira, 21 de maio at 4 p.m. to celebrate patriotism, culture and our coastal lifestyle. Salute on Española Way Block Party

On Friday, May 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., join the Hyundai Air & Sea Show for a free public event dedicated to honoring the military. The festivities take place on Española Way, a charming pedestrian-only street in Miami Beach to celebrate and show support for the U.S. military with vibrant music and a patriotic street party. A live performance by The Flyers, South Florida’s Premiere Power Trio, creates a festive atmosphere as attendees savor a variety of delicious food and drinks from local restaurants.

Murph Challenge

The City of Miami Beach in collaboration with U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion - Miami and Yellow Falcon Cross-Fit presents the Murph Challenge on Saturday, May 23 de 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in Lummus Park between 11 and 12 streets. The challenge consists of two 1-mile runs, 100 pullups, 200 pushups and 300 air squats. The goal is to complete all events in the fastest time possible. Hyundai Air & Sea Show

America’s largest military airshow takes to the skies over Miami Beach on Saturday and Sunday, May 23-24, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The free event features dynamic aircraft performances, cutting-edge military equipment displays and interactive demonstrations by all six branches of U.S. military personnel in the Patriot Display Village. Recommended viewing areas are located between 1-10 streets and 13-20 streets on the beach. Food and beverage concessions will be available at the Patriot Display Village between 11-15 streets along Lummus Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.

U.S. Air Force SaluteFest

Sobre Saturday, May 23 at 6 p.m., attendees will enjoy free entertainment along Ocean Drive headlined by Parmalee, one of country music's most successful acts. Highlights include a sunset 3D projection mapping experience illuminating across five iconic buildings at 14 Street, a nighttime pyro parachute jump by the U.S. Army Golden Knights and the British Red Devils, and performances by the U.S. Air Force Band and U.S. Military drill teams. The night concludes with the 1,000-drone show by Hex and fireworks sponsored by the City of Miami Beach and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Patriot Display Village

The display honors all six branches of the armed forces with interactive exhibits featuring military equipment, including tanks, helicopters, rifle ranges, tactical gear and simulators. This free, interactive village also features the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Kids Zone, Mission BBQ food court and the American Peptides Action Zone. The activation will also feature an E Ride Pro x GritShift custom e-moto giveaway powered by Monster Energy, further enhancing fan engagement and on-site excitement, the GOVX Memorial Flag Garden, corporate activations, extreme sports demonstrations, live music and more over five city blocks.

Protected residential zones for the Flamingo Park and South of Fifth neighborhoods will be in place each evening from 6 p.m. through 5 a.m. on Friday, May 22, Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 with barricades in place to restrict cut-through traffic in these residential areas. Flamingo Park and South of Fifth residents are encouraged to use Alton Road to enter and exit their neighborhood. There will be enhanced police presence in other surrounding neighborhoods.

The Police Department will utilize and deploy fixed and mobile License Plate Readers (LPRs) throughout the city along with an LPR detail on the 5 Street and 41 Street corridors on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. the following day.

Additionally, the city’s traffic monitoring and management contractor will monitor major thoroughfares to detect incidents creating congestion based on available resources and equipment, including existing closed-circuit television and portable cameras in the city, the WAZE mobile application, portable variable message signs for traffic/event messaging, and implementing modifications to traffic signal timing as needed to manage congestion. Traffic Monitors will operate on an extended schedule as follows: Friday, May 22 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and May 24 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Monday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

During hours when the traffic mitigation plan is in place, the Miami Beach Trolley will be enhanced and Miami-Dade County transit services will operate normally. You can track the trolley in real-time on the Miami Beach Gov app, site or Transit App.

Effective Friday, May 22 at 9 p.m. through Monday, May 25 at 9 a.m., a high-impact flat parking rate of $30 per vehicle for nonresidents and $15 for residents will be imposed at all city parking garages in the Entertainment District. This includes parking garages at 7 Street and Collins Avenue, 12 Street and Washington Avenue, 13 Street and Collins Avenue as well as the Anchor Garage on 16 Street.

The city will provide free shuttle service to and from two designated event parking garage locations. Please look for the special parking shuttle identification signs prior to boarding. Parking shuttles will operate on Saturday, May 23 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday, May 24 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at intervals of approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

The enhanced trolley service will operate from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 through Sunday, May 24. Outside of the enhanced service, the Miami Beach Trolley will operate regular hours and service frequency.

Goodwill Ambassadors wearing branded pink T-shirts will be positioned throughout the Art Deco District to answer visitor questions while serving as liaisons to the Police Department.
