— This year’s event takes place at the Hyundai Air & Sea Show on Saturday, May 23 —
Miami Beach, Floride – The City of Miami Beach in collaboration with U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion Miami and Yellow Falcon Cross-Fit is inviting fitness enthusiasts to take the Défi Murph sur Samedi 23 mai depuis 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in Lummus Park between 11 and 12 streets, led by the U.S. Army at the Hyundai Air and Sea Show Display Village.
Named in honor of late Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, the event is held in multiple cities every Memorial Day weekend. Lt. Murphy was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic action in attempting to save the lives of three fellow SEALs during a 2005 firefight in Afghanistan.
“Taking on the Murph Challenge on Memorial Day weekend adds a deeper sense of purpose to the workout,” said Le commissaire de Miami Beach, David Suarez, who plans to participate in the Miami Beach event. “It’s a powerful way to start the weekend and honor the meaning behind it.”
The challenge consists of two 1-mile runs, 100 pullups, 200 pushups and 300 air squats. Some participants choose to push their limits even further by wearing an optional 20-pound weighted vest.
"The Murph Challenge is far more than a fitness event, it is a test of grit, discipline, and heart. It honors someone who gave everything in service to our country and reminds us that sacrifice defines the very best of the American spirit,” said Le maire de Miami Beach, Steven Meiner.
