— City officials will honor the victims of the Oct. 7 attack and reaffirm support for Israel —

Miami Beach, Florida – Mayor Steven Meiner and the City Commission will reaffirm Miami Beach’s support for Israel at a ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. to mark the third anniversary of the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas-led terrorist attack in which approximately 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals were murdered, including women and children.

All of the roughly 250 hostages abducted that day by Hamas have since been returned, the living and the remains of the deceased, under a ceasefire agreement.

“Three years later, the horror of October 7th remains with us. There is no place in a civilized society for the barbaric atrocities carried out by Iran-backed Hamas terrorists,” said Steven Meiner, Bürgermeister von Miami Beach. “Miami Beach stands with Israel, with the families who lost loved ones, and with the survivors and hostages who endured unimaginable suffering. We will never forget.”

The event is free and open to the public, and will be held outside Miami Beach Fire Station No. 2 at 2300 Pine Tree Drive. The program will include remarks from several speakers, including Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, the La’Aretz Foundation, and a former IDF soldier who was injured in service.

Shortly after the massacre, eight Miami Beach firefighters volunteered to travel to Israel. The firefighters filled in for some of the country’s first responders who were called to military service. Miami Beach also gifted an ambulance to its Sister City, the Israeli coastal city of Nahariya, accepted by the American Friends of Magen David Adom.
