Volunteer to Serve

Volunteer to Serve on Miami Beach’s Land Use Boards

In a City as vibrant and dynamic as Miami Beach, the decisions made by our Land Use Boards play a crucial role in shaping the future landscape of our community. From preserving our rich architectural heritage to guiding responsible development, these boards are at the forefront of ensuring a sustainable and thriving City for generations to come. The City’s Land Use Boards are comprised of the Board of Adjustment, the Design Review Board, the Historic Preservation Board, and the Planning Board.

Recently, the City Commission took a proactive step towards enhancing the diversity and expertise of our Land Use Boards. Recognizing the importance of having professionals with practical experience in architecture and landscape architecture, the Mayor and City Commission accepted the recommendation of the Land Use and Sustainability Committee to implement enhanced recruitment strategies.

But why stop there when we can tap into the wealth of talent and passion within our own community? That is where you come in. We are calling on all residents who are passionate about shaping the future of Miami Beach to consider volunteering for our Land Use Boards.

Here are just a few reasons why joining a Land Use Board is an incredibly rewarding opportunity:

Make a Difference: Your voice matters. By serving on a Land Use Board, you have the opportunity to directly impact the decisions that shape our City's growth and development.

Gain Experience: Whether you are a seasoned professional or just starting your career, volunteering for a Land Use Board provides invaluable experience and networking opportunities in the fields of architecture and landscape architecture.

Connect with the Community: Engage with fellow residents, civic groups, and local organizations who share your passion for preserving our City's unique character and promoting sustainable development.

Access Benefits: As a board member, you may have access to a free Citywide parking pass, discounted memberships to cultural and recreational facilities, with access to residential rates for all Parks and Recreation programs and rentals including tennis and golf, as well as discounted admission to City-sponsored events. These are some of the many perks of giving back to your community.

So, what are you waiting for? Join us in shaping the future of Miami Beach by volunteering for our Land Use Boards. Together, we can ensure that our City continues to thrive as a vibrant and sustainable community for years to come.

Your City is calling – will you answer?
