City of Miami Beach Lights Up Pink

(Miami Beach, FL) Oct 1, 2021 -

The City of Miami Beach will light up pink tonight, Oct. 1 to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Miami Beach City Hall, Miami Beach Police Headquarters and Fire Station #2 will be among the buildings that will be bathed in pink lights starting at sundown.

“Every year, I learn of at least one friend or family member who is diagnosed with breast cancer,” explained Miami Beach City Manager Alina T. Hudak, who has participated in breast cancer awareness events for over 20 years. “Prevention and early detection are so important in protecting our mothers, sisters, friends — and even the men in our lives — from this horrid disease.”

On Saturday, Oct. 23, a number of the city’s 2,200 employee are expected to take part in the Making Strides of Miami-Dade event at LoanDepot Park (formerly Marlins Park) to support breast cancer awareness. The walk begins at 9 a.m.
