Miami Beach Announces Special Event Sponsorships

(Miami Beach, FL) Sep 3, 2021 -

In an effort to promote more local programming for residents and visitors, the City of Miami Beach has established a special event sponsorship program. Up to $1.5 million in funds will be awarded to local festivals, special events and community festivals that promote community engagement.

“The city continues to elevate Miami Beach as a world-class tourist and event destination,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said. “We recognize the potential role these funds will play in encouraging tourism and economic development.”

Sponsorship requests will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Unique and engaging events that improve the quality of life for residents.
  • Events that increase tourism through group hotel sales and attendance.
  • Accessibility for the general public.
  • Events that contribute to the reputation of Miami Beach as a national and international destination.
  • Events that enhance Miami Beach’s reputation as a cultural destination.

Special consideration will be given to events that enhance Miami Beach’s reputation as a place to visit, live or work and events that celebrate Miami Beach’s rich heritage and beauty. Budget awards will be based on a specific fiscal year.

“We recognize that special events serve as an important economic driver for the city and we want to do everything possible to encourage more local programming,” explained Miami Beach Commissioner Ricky Arriola.

Applications for events that take place between Jan. 1, 2022 and Sept. 30, 2022, will be available between Sept. 1, 2021 and Oct. 30, 2021. Events planned for Oct. 1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2023, will be available between Jan. 1, 2022 and Feb. 28, 2022.
