FAQs

Yes! The top team from each of the six skills divisions will win a prize pack worth over $1500, which will include a $1000 cash prize (for each player), a branded Pickleball bag, and a South Beach Slam tournament paddle along with some other amazing collateral from our partners.

No – you can sign up as a single registrant provided you know your DUPR rating, and we will pair you with a player of the same skill level, provided space is available in that division bracket.

Teams will be divided into six different skill levels.  You will be playing against teams who are within your skill level to ensure fair play across the board.

No – when you sign up, you will be asked to choose a time block of approximately 2-3 hours.  You will only play for those 2-3 hours on Saturday and Sunday.  This leaves plenty of time to check out all that Miami Beach has to offer including our 7 miles of white sand beaches, shops and restaurants on Lincoln Road and our museums and cultural offerings.

Yes – the South Beach Slam will have one (1) referee designated to oversee two (2) courts each.  It is expected that players engage in fair play within their courts, but the referees will be present should there be any tough calls that need a second set of eyes.

This tournament is being held outdoors and while we will have some shaded areas, please be prepared to be in the elements for the duration of your play.  We recommend you bring sunscreen and water and any snacks you may need during play.  Beverages will be available for purchase onsite, but there will not be any place to refill water bottles. On-site restrooms will also be provided, with access for players only, with additional restrooms for spectators being located a few steps away at Yard House.  There will not be any lockers or secure storage on site, so only bring what is needed and leave your valuables at home as the South Beach Slam cannot be held responsible for the individual valuables of players on site.

Players can pick up their registration kits on Friday November 17 from 4pm – 8pm and on Saturday November 18, from 8AM – 4PM at Nike on Lincoln Road, located at 1035 Lincoln Road.  The registration kit will include information on the tournament, rules of play a branded South Beach Slam tote bag and sweat towel along with additional information and discounts from local businesses.

No – the tournament will be held in an outdoor surface parking lot. Only players will be allowed within the fenced perimeter of each court, but spectators are free to roam the event site and watch games as they take place.

Yes – both the event site and tournament play are accessible. This event is taking place in a surface parking lot at 1685 Lenox Avenue, with no barriers to access or mobility.

Yes, you will need to bring your own equipment. The South Beach Slam will provide balls for all tournament play, but players will be expected to provide their own paddles and any other individual equipment needed for play.

No – all registrations must take place prior to the tournament to ensure that players are matched properly according to skill level. We anticipate the tournament to sell out quickly.

Yes – all pets on leashes are welcome within the event site but will not be allowed within the fenced player areas to ensure sanitary conditions for all players over the course of the weekend.

Yes, the tournament will take place rain or shine, but will be delayed or cancelled in the event of lightning or other dangerous weather conditions as deemed necessary by the City of Miami Beach public safety authorities.  Should the event be cancelled due to weather conditions, a notification will be sent out to all registrants with important information on safety and rescheduling / refund policies.

We highly suggest that all participants try to walk, bike or take public transportation to the event, but if parking is necessary, you can click here for more information on public parking around the event site.

Yes – Yard House is the official hospitality sponsor of the South Beach Slam and will be serving various food and beverage options on their patio on the north side of our event site.  For those who have specific tastes, this event is taking place only steps away from world-famous Lincoln Road, which features multiple food and beverage options. On Friday, November 17, Lincoln Road will be featuring Smorgasbord, which is a street food festival only steps away from our event site.  You can click here for more information on food and beverage options located on Lincoln Road.

Yes. People of all ages and abilities are welcome, provided they have a DUPR rating, as that rating will ensure they are playing against other players of the same skill level.
