Get to know the Miami Beach Human Rights Committee

The City of Miami Beach’s Human Rights Committee has worked since 2010 to inform the public of the rights and remedies provided under the City’s Human Rights Ordinance, facilitate public awareness about human rights issues, and recommend to the Mayor and Commission legislation or activities that would further the purpose of human rights and eliminate or prevent discrimination. The City of Miami Beach Human Rights Ordinance is one of the most inclusive in the world, prohibiting discrimination in housing, employment, or public accommodation based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, marital and familial status, or age. Recent human rights events and focus areas have included human trafficking, trans-gender issues, economic and wage discrimination, and housing issues. The committee meets monthly except in August.

The complaint form is available online or at Miami Beach City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, third floor (Human Resources Department). The complaint form is offered in English, Spanish and Creole. For more information, please contact 305.673.7524.
