Empowering Resilient Businesses Through Preparedness Training

Summary

As National Preparedness Month takes center stage, Miami Beach highlights the vital role readiness plays in strengthening our business community. From everyday operations to unexpected disruptions, preparedness empowers local businesses to remain resilient and continue thriving no matter the challenge.

A prepared workplace is a more resilient workplace, providing a faster return to normal operations and reducing financial impacts after a disaster. Employee preparedness is central to strengthening workplace resiliency, and the Business Community Response Team (BERT) program offers businesses a practical way to enhance individual readiness while supporting overall organizational continuity.

This year, the City’s Economic Development Department successfully completed BERT training, demonstrating our commitment to leading by example and bolstering the City's capacity to support businesses before, during, and after emergencies. Through the training, staff gained hands‑on experience in emergency procedures, coordination practices, and response techniques, skills that help ensure we can continue serving the business community even in challenging circumstances.

We encourage all Miami Beach businesses to participate in BERT training.

Benefits include:

  • Strengthening your team’s ability to safely and confidently respond to emergencies.
  • Building continuity plans that reduce downtime and protect revenue.
  • Equipping employees with preparedness skills that support both workplace and family safety.
  • Becoming part of a more resilient business ecosystem that can collaborate during disruptions.
