SANITATION – RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE

The City’s contract for residential trash pick up has been awarded to Waste Connections of Florida effective January 1, 2019.  Waste Connections of Florida is responsible for picking up house trash (2) times per week as follow:

General housekeeping trash (excluding old paint, gas, etc.) is collected from the back or side yard two times a week.  Cans or bags cannot weigh more than 50 lbs.  Only material placed inside the garbage bags/cans will be removed.

Pick up days are:
1 Street to 41 Street Mondays & Thursdays
42 Street to 67 Street Tuesdays & Fridays
68 Street to 87 Street Wednesdays & Saturdays

Yard trash includes tree/shrubs cuttings, grass clippings and palm fronds.  All trash must be in bags/cans or tied in bundles and weigh less than 50 lbs (no more than (8) bags).  Bundles cannot be bigger than (4) feet in length, limbs no bigger than (4) inches in diameter.  Place trash at the curb no sooner than (24) hours prior to 7:00 a.m. on your pick up days of the week.

They City of Miami Beach Green Waste Facility is located at 2800 Meridian Avenue.  The hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Closed Sunday.  There is no charge for residents who show proof of city residency (Photo Identification with Miami Beach address on it or a utility bill along with photo identification) and transport their green waste in a car, pick-up truck, sport utility vehicle (SUVs), van or trailer.  Landscape firms in pickups, vans or trailers will be charged $20.00 per cubic yard.

Bulky waste pick ups must by scheduled by calling Waste Connections of Florida directly at 786.515.2726.  Residents will be given a confirmation number and must follow the guidelines outlined below for bulk waste pick ups:

Bulky waste includes: large cuttings of bushes, tree limbs, and yard trash which cannot by placed in a can, bag or tied in bundles (4) feet in length or less; household appliances such as ranges, water heaters and refrigerators (with doors removed); trash from do-it-yourself home remodeling/repair projects including carpeting (cut to lengths of (6) feet or less); dry wall and lumber not exceeding (5) feet in length or 40 pounds; and furniture (sofas, chairs and mattresses).  Residents are entitled to (5) free bulk pick-ups a year.

Bulk Waste does NOT include trash from tree removal, land clearing, building demolition, automobiles and automotive parts, tires, batteries, boats, biological wastes, or any work done by a contractor.

Bulky Waste cannot be placed out more than (24) hours prior to the scheduled date.
