Miami Beach’s business community gathered for the May 21 Business Ready Day, an event designed to make starting, operating, and expanding a business clearer, faster, and more accessible. Held in the Building Department Conference Room at City Hall, the event connected entrepreneurs, experienced operators, property owners, and project teams with hands-on support from City and County partners. Attendees left with solutions, next steps, and a clearer path forward for their business needs.
A One-Stop Resource for City Guidance
Business Ready Day continues to serve as a practical tool for navigating City processes. Participants received individualized support on:
• Certificates of Use and Business Tax Receipts
• Building permitting
• Outdoor dining regulations
• Commercial signage needs
• Music licensing and operational compliance
• Emergency Management’s Business Emergency Response Team (BERT) resources
• Procurement guidance, including how to register as a City vendor.
This month’s event included strong participation from Miami-Dade County. Representatives from the Miami-Dade Tax Collector’s Office assisted with Local Business Tax Receipts, driver licenses and IDs, vehicle and vessel registration, specialty parking permits, and tax payments.
DERM staff were also available to help businesses understand whether their operation requires environmental review, what documents are needed, and how to move through the County’s CU and LBTR approval process efficiently.

Several community partners joined this month to offer additional resources and support. These included:
• CareerSource, providing workforce and hiring assistance
• Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, offering networking and business development support
• Citibank, highlighting business services available at its new North Beach branch
