Miami Beach, FL – The LGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee of the City of Miami Beach will host a special global Pride Month ceremony on Wednesday, June 11 at 5 p.m. at the Euclid Oval (660 Lincoln Road) featuring rainbow-branded public safety vehicles from agencies throughout Miami-Dade County along iconic Lincoln Road.
“Miami Beach is a city that welcomes all people with respect and dignity, and we are committed to ensuring a safe and inclusive community for everyone,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner.
Rainbow-branded public safety vehicles from the following jurisdictions are expected to participate: Aventura, Golden Beach, Hialeah, Homestead, Miami, Miami Beach, North Miami and North Miami Beach.
“Robert and I feel so blessed to live in a community where our love is seen and celebrated,” shared Miami Beach Commissioner Alex Fernandez. “During Pride Month and all year long, Miami Beach leads with purpose — lifting up those once pushed to the margins and honoring those who paved the way. I’m especially proud of our police and fire departments for standing proudly with our LGBTQIA+ community, highlighting that safety and dignity go hand in hand. We stand united to ensure everyone — no matter who they love or how they identify — feel safe, seen, and supported in Miami Beach.”
In April, the city welcomed thousands of LGBTQIA+ attendees to the annual Miami Beach Pride celebration. In addition, the city flies the Progress Pride Flag year-round alongside the American flag outside Miami Beach City Hall and has a Pride lifeguard tower at 12 Street and the beachfront. The tower features six vertical painted stripes to reflect the colors of the traditional Rainbow Flag.
“As we embark upon the commencement of Global Pride Month, the Miami Beach Police Department reaffirms its commitment to the safety, dignity, and inclusion of our LGBTQIA+ community,” added Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones. “In a city as vibrant and culturally diverse as Miami Beach — MBPD takes immense pride in our continued partnerships, inclusive training standards, and shared dedication to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all. We celebrate Pride not only this month, but every day — because everyone deserves to feel seen, respected, and safe.”
Nationally, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month is celebrated throughout the U.S. in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, according to the Library of Congress, which described the Stonewall Uprising as a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.
“Lincoln Road proudly celebrates and supports the LGBTQIA+ community year-round, standing as a place of inclusivity, diversity, and unity,” said Lyle Stern, president of the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (BID). “During Global Pride Month, we reaffirm that commitment by spotlighting LGBTQIA+ voices through art and culture. This June, the Lincoln Road BID is honored to host artist Facundo Yebné’s art installations Unity Beak and Proud Love —works that reflect the courage it takes to love openly and to stand proud as yourself. Lincoln Road is more than a destination—it’s a community that embraces and uplifts everyone, every day of the year.”
