The City of Miami Beach continued to strengthen its presence in the global innovation ecosystem as Economic Development Director Steven Anthony served as a judge for the WHX Miami Xcelerate Startup Competition, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Anthony joined a distinguished panel of healthcare and innovation leaders to evaluate six startup finalists presenting breakthrough solutions in healthcare, biotechnology, digital health, and life sciences. Each company was assessed on innovation, feasibility, presentation quality, and its ability to respond to questions from the judging panel.

Warren D. Marcus, Ph.D., co-founder and CEO of Wink Biotherapeutics, was named the competition winner for the company’s pioneering RNA therapeutics platform, which is advancing potential treatments for Type 1 diabetes and solid tumors through precision-targeted RNA technology. As the grand prize winner, Wink Biotherapeutics received a sponsored opportunity to exhibit at WHX Dubai 2027, a complimentary exhibition stand at WHX Miami 2027, and a 30-day executive mentorship program.
