Miami Beach, FL – The City of Miami Beach will officially take the wraps off an America 250-inspired lifeguard tower that will keep the nation’s 250th birthday celebration going long past the Fourth of July. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 10 at 10 a.m. along the 8 Street beach.

“For generations, people have come to the shores of Miami Beach to relax, reflect, and give thanks — to enjoy the blessings of liberty and to dream of the opportunities made possible in the greatest nation on Earth,” shared Miami Beach Commissioner Alex J. Fernandez, who sponsored the measure to adorn the lifeguard tower in honor of the semiquincentennial of the Declaration of Independence. “At a time when so much public discourse focuses on what divides us, this patriotic lifeguard tower is a tribute to the enduring ideals embodied in our flag and the shared love of country that continues to unite Americans.”

The lifeguard tower will be decorated in patriotic red, white and blue stars and stripes and carry the message: “Life, liberty and the pursuit of paradise.”

“America’s 250th is a moment to remember what unites us,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “We welcome everyone to this patriotic lifeguard stand as a symbol of freedom and love of country — right here on one of America’s most iconic beaches.”

Residents and visitors can share a moment of civic pride and community spirit as the tower takes its place on one of America’s most iconic beaches.
