The Economic Development Department recently welcomed new businesses to Miami Beach through the presentation of official Welcome Certificates, reinforcing the City's commitment to fostering a strong, supportive, and business-friendly environment.

As a globally recognized brand, this vibrant location continues to outperform other cities in the region as a top destination for both domestic and international visitors. The City is grateful to the businesses who choose to invest here and contribute to the community’s economic vitality.

“The City is at the forefront of supporting our business community,” states Steven Anthony, the Director of the Economic Development Department, “We are proactively taking measures to enhance quality of life, promote public safety, and ensure that the needs of our business community are valued and addressed.”

During recent visits, Washington Avenue business owners and managers shared positive experiences about operating in the city. Filip Perkon from Duck World expressed how their business started out as a hobby, but then they were on a mission to spread happiness via the duckies and felt that Miami Beach oozes happiness. Duck World offers a whimsical shopping experience with over 750+ designer and collectible rubber duckies, each crafted with unique themes and characters, making them perfect for collectors and gift-givers alike.

Food operators are equally enthusiastic about the city's welcoming atmosphere. Brian Cherry, one of the owners of Wanderlust, states that they have benefited greatly from the City's updated Pop-Up Venue Program. Wanderlust is a place where locals can connect, enjoy high-quality food and drinks, and experience curated entertainment. From its unique fusion of American comfort food with international flavors to its art deco glam and tropical flair, Wanderlust is more than just a dining experience.

Another food operator, Miam, has expanded to this vibrant location with other locations in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Miam, which translates to 'yum' in French, expresses the pleasure of enjoying delicious food. Miam Café & Boutique boasts a simple, fresh menu offered in a place where people can gather and enjoy fresh homemade food and drinks all day long in a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you crave a wholesome breakfast, a healthy lunch, or a freshly-prepared afternoon snack, Miam brings made-to-order and homemade dishes to the city, made from the best organic and locally sourced ingredients available.

The city also continues to attract innovative and internationally recognized brands. Spanish label Toni Pons continues to expand its global retail network and has opened a new store in the US. The Catalan espadrille brand has opened in Miami Beach, Florida, at 1656 Lenox Ave. Based in Girona, the footwear brand was founded in 1946 and currently operates more than 50 company-owned stores in Spain and abroad. The online channel is also a key pillar of its business, and the brand is available at around 4,000 multi-brand points of sale across nearly 90 markets.

Foot traffic and visibility remain key factors driving business success. The corner of Washington Avenue and Espanola Way is now hopping with the opening of Willie's Chicken Shack, a New Orleans-born fast-casual concept. The restaurant, known for its fried chicken and New Orleans-style soul food, finds the corner a consistent mix of residents and visitors providing the ideal environment for a business that thrives on high foot traffic.
