Summary
This September, Miami Beach shines a spotlight on Black Business Month with the inspiring Pitch the Beach event. Local entrepreneurs, community leaders, and business innovators gathered to showcase bold ideas and celebrate the vibrant spirit of Black-owned businesses. Discover how partnerships and creative vision are shaping a more inclusive and dynamic business landscape in our city.
In celebration of Black Business Month, the City of Miami Beach sponsored the 2026 Pitch the Beach, in partnership with the Black Professionals Network (BPN). Building on the City and BPN’s collaboration, the event created a platform to elevate Black-owned businesses, connect founders with the broader business community and spotlight entrepreneurial talent in Miami Beach.
Held at Casa Matilda, a Black-owned Miami Beach business at 411 Washington Avenue, the pitch competition brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders and community members for an evening of bold ideas, networking and connection. Five finalists took the stage to share their businesses, field questions and compete for the 2026 Pitch the Beach title.
This year’s top honor went to Sail La Vie: Black Yacht Day, whose winning pitch earned the 2026 Pitch the Beach title. The concept celebrates community and culture through curated yachting experiences, and stood out among a strong field of Black founders.
Miami Beach Economic Development Director, Steven Anthony, served on the judging panel alongside Glendon Hall, Chair of the City of Miami Beach Black Affairs Advisory Committee helping select this year’s winning pitch.
More than a competition, Pitch the Beach reflects the City’s continued commitment to supporting Black entrepreneurship by expanding access, visibility and connections for business owners. Through partnerships with organizations like BPN, Miami Beach Economic Development is helping create opportunities for entrepreneurs to launch, grow and build lasting businesses in Miami Beach.
Congratulations to Sail La Vie and all the finalists who took the stage to share their vision and celebrate Black entrepreneurship in Miami Beach.
