Collins Canal Water Main Improvements

To complete these improvements efficiently, the contractor will carry out the project in six phases. Pre-construction work will include equipment mobilization, material delivery, and tree pruning and relocation to prepare the project site for drilling and excavation activities.

Throughout the project, crews will alternate between the two pipe locations as construction activities progress. The locations of both pipelines, which serve as the two work zones, are outlined below.

• Work Zone 1: Pipe starts on 23 Street, crosses through the Collins Canal, and exits at 2300 Pine Tree Drive.

• Work Zone 2: Pipe starts on 22 Street, crosses through the Collins Canal, and exits in front of Miami Beach Senior High School, located at 2201 Prairie Avenue.

The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan for this phase includes a westbound closure on 23 Street from just west of Collins Avenue to the entrance of the Valero gas station, located at 331 23 Street. In addition, 14 parking spaces within the project area will be temporarily unavailable during this phase.

Please know that access to the Valero gas station will be maintained at all times.

The city is in the process of finalizing the project schedule, with construction currently anticipated to begin in March 2026. Please know that this project is expected to take approximately four months to complete, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Once an official start date is confirmed, the city will share an update with the neighborhood and provide additional information on the project timeline.

Stakeholders can expect:

• Moderate levels of construction noise are expected during the day.
• Partial sidewalk closures throughout the construction zone will be in place. Please follow all posted signage.
• Select parking spaces adjacent to each work zone will be temporarily unavailable.
• Machinery and workers will be present on the job site. Residents and visitors are advised to use caution when crews are present and to follow all posted signage.
