Michele Jones is a seasoned litigator and advisor who joined the City Attorney's Office as a Police Legal Advisor for the City of Miami Beach Police Department in 2025. Her primary responsibilities include providing legal advice and training to the Miami Beach Police Department, overseeing the Municipal Prosecution team, and litigating matters concerning the Miami Beach Police Department.
Prior to being hired by the City of Miami Beach, Ms. Jones practiced employment law as an Assistant Chief Counsel for the Department of Homeland Security and as an Associate General Counsel for the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida. Also at the School Board, Ms. Jones advised Miami-Dade Schools Police Department and defended the School Board in Title IX and discrimination litigation in state and federal courts. In addition, she taught Essentials of Criminal Justice at Miami Dade County Public School's Law Magnet Program.
Ms. Jones began her legal career as an Assistant State Attorney at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office, where she spent several years prosecuting violent, repeat offenders as a part of the Career Criminal/Robbery Unit. Ms. Jones was a founding executive board member of the Charles B. Morton Jr. South Florida Chapter of the National Black Prosecutors Association.
