Parent Child Program

City of Miami Beach Parent-Child Program

The City of Miami Beach Parent-Child Program is fully funded by The Children’s Trust and offers Miami Beach families with children age birth – 18 the evidence-based Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP). The NPP curriculums are family-focused interactive classes that provide parents/ caregivers and their children an opportunity to grow together.

The program has two modalities that engages the whole family. For parents of children ages 5-11 and parents of adolescents ages 12-18, there are group-based settings offered once per week in the fall and spring. The program’s curriculum is given in 15 and 12 class sessions, respectively and each class session begins with a free family meal. In partnership with the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation, groups are held at North Shore Youth Center and Flamingo Park. For parents of children birth to 5, a home-based setting is offered year-round, once per week for 24 weeks. An experienced facilitator provides the class sessions in your home.

The NPP curriculums include varying topic discussions tailored to the developmental stage of the child, hands-on activities, parent handbooks (adolescents also receive handbooks) and family time. The curriculums are designed to nurture empathy, strengthen family bonds, foster effective communication, increase parental knowledge of child development, and empower parents.
