Wish You Were Here

Denise Treizman creates immersive installations and sculptural works by blending repurposed materials, handcrafted elements and remnants of mass consumption. Her practice balances fascination and critique, transforming everyday objects into dynamic, thought-provoking compositions. Her vibrant use of color amplifies the playful energy of her work, stemming from an irresistible attraction to colorful, massproduced objects and a deeper inquiry into their transient nature.

Treizman earned an MFA from the School of Visual Arts (2013 | New York, NY) and is currently a studio resident at Laundromat Art Space in Miami, Florida. She has had solo exhibitions at the Wiregrass Museum of Art (2025 | Dothan, AL), the Coral Springs Museum of Art (2024), Tiger Strikes Asteroid Chicago (2024), University Galleries of Illinois State University (2021), Proto Gomez Gallery (2021 | New York, NY), Cuchifritos Gallery (2016 | New York, NY), and Wave Hill’s Sunroom Project Space (2016 | Bronx, NY).

She was part of the Bronx Museum for the Arts’ AIM Biennial (2015) and prominently featured in the 2023 Florida Prize in Contemporary Art at the Orlando Museum of Art.

She has participated in notable artist residencies, such as the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, NYC; Mass MoCA; NARS Foundation; Triangle Workshop; ACRE Residency; Ox-Bow Residency; and Vermont Studio Center. Recent achievements include being the Helen M. Salzberg Visiting Artist Fellow at Palm Beach State College (2024), receiving the South Florida Cultural Consortium Award (2024), and the Ellies Creator Award (2025).
